Contact Lens Appointments in Reading

What do contact lenses feel like to wear?

To be honest, it depends on your eyes. I have astigmatism and while it shouldn't have any major effects, I find that I can't wear contacts for more than about 6 to 8 hours each day before my eyes get tired.

However, my girlfriend can wear them for about 16 hours with no problems.

Equally, I like soft lenses because they are more comfortable, but I have friends who can't get on with them and have to wear gas permeable lenses.

The best thing to do is have a contact lens trial and speak with a qualified specialist. They can advice the best solution for your eyes.

Reading Eye Tests - What happens

A simple eye test involves reading letters from a chart. The letters become progressively smaller on each line of the chart.

If you are taking the test for the first time, you should not use your glasses or contact lenses. If you have taken the test before and have previously been prescribed glasses or contact lenses, your optician may want you to take the test while wearing your glasses or contact lenses.

At the end of your eye test, your optician will discuss the results of the test with you and advise you of your best course of action. They will also provide you with a certificate to say that you do not need to wear glasses or contact lenses, or give you a prescription for the type of glasses or contact lenses that you need to wear. You can use this prescription at any optician.

Should I get an Eye Test?

Welcome to the eye test blog for Berkshire.

This blog is aimed at helping people in the Berkshire area look after their eyesight and catch any potential issues early ebnough that they can be fixed by a professional eye care doctor.

Most people can't be bothered going for an eye test each year.  This is perfectly understandable but in fact can lead to serious problems in later life.  For the sake of 1 hour and a few pounds each year, you can look forward to having healthy eyes for the rest of your life.

In later articles, I hope to list a number of places in Berkshire that are offering eye tests and discounts on eye appointments.  If we can find the low cost deals then perhaps we can encourage a few more people to make an appointment and look after their eyes!

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments field!
